Organizers: Linda (Avery) Wood and Allison (Hearns) Gorman (and Scott Lyles, but see below for more info there)
From Linda Avery Wood:
We have decided on Aug. 9th - 11th at the Hilton, downtown Atlanta. Rooms will be $99 per night for 1-4 people. (Your choice of 1 King or 2 Double beds) We are planning on having a cocktail party on Friday night the 9th and a dinner/dance party on Sat. night the 10th. The hotel is located in downtown Atlanta, with shuttle service to and from the airport. It is close to everything anyone might want to do downtown (CNN center, Centennial Olympic Park, Underground Atlanta, The world of Coca Cola, shopping, restaurants, etc.).
I am still working on the pricing per person as far as our cost for food, drinks, DJ etc. but I will pass that along as soon as Allison and I can finalize some things. Scott has been called up for duty and is now serving our country in Kuwait, so he has left the decision making up to Allison and I until he returns. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. (am also working on some kind of babysitting during the evenings for those who want to bring their children).
Update November 3rd:
Linda confirmed with the hotel on Monday, so everything looks good on her end. I have to make a $500 deposit in February and would love to know if I'm going to have any interest in this thing or not before I shell out that kind of cash. I think we will be able to get away with charging $125 per couple or $65 per single that comes. That will cover the cost of the dinner, cocktail party (drinks not inclued, obviously), banquet room rental, DJ and decorations/gift baskets etc....
Update January 12th:
We have reserved the Hilton in Downtown Atlanta to host the event. We are planning a cocktail-type party on Friday night and a Dinner/Dance on Saturday night. The hotel was kind enough to give us a great rate of $99 a night per room and the location is perfect for shopping, sight-seeing and anything else you might like to do. The price for the reunion will be $125 per couple and $65 per single. (which will be due no later than July 6th). I will have phone #'s available to make your room reservations on the site with-in the next couple of weeks. (I hope.)
If anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at lwood@roomstogo.com (You can also e-mail Allison (Hearns) Gorman at alliegorman@uswest.net) We would love for this to be a HUGE success, so please try to make plans to attend. Also, this e-mail was only sent to those whose names were on the AFCENT alumni web-site with a "Class of" designation, so if you keep in touch with someone who is not on the list, please forward them the information. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you in Atlanta in August!
